A collection of superyacht suppliers have formed the New Zealand Superyacht Group (NZSG). The group said in a statement that it plans to promote New Zealand to superyacht owners while also “fostering collaboration and alignment within the industry.”
Gregg Kelly, CEO of Fastmount, said the formation of the group has arrived at an ideal time. “Superyacht construction has suffered severe reduction over the last two years with the closure of several top yards,” Kelly said in the statement. “New Zealand needs a group with a focus that is solely aimed at this important part of the marine sector.” Kelly, one of NZSG’s founding members, said Fastmount still relies on superyacht construction for much of its sales.
Ned Wood of Manson Anchors said the new group should also help promote coordinating opportunities for superyacht companies within New Zealand. “With the huge amount of talent and potential in this market we are excited about the opportunities this new group will offer and what we can offer the group in return,” said Wood.
NZSG board members will be appointed in the coming weeks. More information on NZSG is available at www.nzsuperyachtgroup.org.
